Care Guide
Embroidered garments last longest with a little extra care. Here's how to keep yours looking sharp.
Washing
- Turn the garment inside-out before washing to protect the stitching.
- Wash in cold water on a gentle cycle.
- Avoid bleach and other harsh detergents.
- Wash embroidered items separately from anything with zips, velcro or rough fastenings that could snag the threads.
Drying
- Air dry where possible.
- If using a dryer, use a low heat setting and remove promptly.
- Avoid direct sunlight for extended periods, as it can fade thread colours over time.
Ironing
- If ironing is needed, turn the garment inside-out and use a low-to-medium heat setting.
- Avoid pressing the iron directly onto the embroidered design — use a pressing cloth, or iron around it, to protect the stitching and any backing material.
Storage
- Store folded or on a hanger in a dry place, away from direct sunlight.
A note on caps
Structured caps hold their shape best if reshaped gently by hand after washing, rather than left to dry flat or dryer-tumbled.
Looking after your embroidery this way will help the stitching and colours stay looking sharp for years.
